Mile High Book Review: CreativeAddaReads

Author: Liz Tomforde
Main Characters: Stevie Ray and Evan Zanders
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Mile High is a story about loving yourself, no matter how many times the world tries to convince you otherwise. This journey of acceptance and unconditional bonds takes you to a beautiful journey of healing past hurts.

Zanders is the classic bad boy Casanova in public. NHL needs a reputation he's told, so he delivers, but that doesn't mean the man is the same behind closed doors There are some hearts that are buried deep, guarded fiercely, and his falls in that category

Stevie is the relatable FMC with curves, sass and insecurities and mother that refuses to see what she’s doing to her child. She loves dogs, hates Zanders (at first) and vows to never date an athlete again because "she's been there. She's done that."

At first, they're both happy with pissing each other off but who are they kidding. They want each other's attention. Zanders more so than Stevie, because whatever persona Zanders projects, deep inside there's a boy who never quite got over his fear of abandonment and loves way too hard for his own good.

They fall into bed after a long back and forth thinking it'll be one and done (spoiler it is not) and so, they break every self imposed rule, and fall in love till the rules come back to bite their forbidden romance in the ass.

Stevie had no intention of falling for an athlete, again but she did, she got over her insecurities (with Z's help) and gave it her best. Alas, a relationship usually takes two and when he was ready she wasn't and now that she was confident in her own skin, his past and his fears come out.

The story is too real to be fictional. You see yourself in most of these scenes and you want to scream at the characters because they're so damn human.

Liz Tomdorde gives a true to life relatable story with a little predictable but very enjoyable plot. You see the characters grow, heal and come together and you're proud of them. I would not say perfect. But I would highly recommend that this book be the beginning of a new bookish journey. I have high hopes from the rest of the series
